Needed Props

Mannequin - This may be used several times.Sophie in one of the beginning shots will lie on top of the mannequin and then roll off it, revealing it. In another sequance, Sophie will move mannequns in such a way to shape what she wants in a relationship. Mannequins suit the song's theme and genre which is why we chose this for our song.

Microphone - Sophie will sing into it for certain aspects of this video.

Motorbike - We may film a scene with dark Sophie posing on a motorbike.

Not Made For This-Anna Neale Lyrics

Go down, into yourself and find those holes.
Because you, are so perfectly wrong.
Listen to me and I'll tell you what you want.
Get your life sorted out, go get a proper job.
Here goes another night, I sit and hold on tight.
Listening to my half circle preach.
Can never get it right, they stay or leave in fright.
Maybe i'm just not made for this.

Cause I'm not designed for this,
I wasn't made for this.
I'm not designed for this,
for being so twisted, yeah.

Look at me, and see what you can achieve.
We f***ed up, but doubt your insecurities.
Money is power, and I have everything.
But I think you forgot the meaning of happy.

I need a break from this, cause I just can't process it.
It wasn't like this from the start.
Can never get it right, they think i'm dull or bright.
Maybe i'm just not made for this.

Cause I'm not designed for this,
I wasn't made for this. No i'm not, cause I'm not, no I'm not.
Because I'm not designed for this,
for being so twisted.
Because I'm not designed for this,
I wasn't made for this

Yeah

Risk Assessment

Getting Injured By Moving Car:
We will ensure that precautions are put in to place for road safety during footage around roads and we will never film actors crossing busy roads. (If crossing of a road is necessary in one shot, then the cameraman will never rush actor and make sure he/she feels safe crossing the road and that they do it as naturally and safely as possible).

Getting Lost:
During certain scenes, we will make sure that all actors have phone in their pocket in their pocket if they cannot find way back. However, this will be prevented by filming in groups of three or four at all times, which will limit individual isolation.

Damage to Equipment:
We will make sure, when handling equipment, that we do so gently and slowly, preventing any quick slips, trips or falls with the equipment. We will also share the equipment when walking therefore preventing any one person to carry all of it by themselves, which will hopefully prevent injury or damage to person or equipment.

Strangers/Assault:
We will make sure as a group that we don't annoy or aggravate members of the public during the filming's of our scenes. We will choose fairly isolated areas during the day to avoid this, but if we encounter a person we will take extra safety precautions to avoid awkward questioning or negative vibes.

General Injury:
We will ensure that our locations are near college during, college hours, so if something happened we can quickly return to get help. Also we will always travel in a group of 4, therefore if someone is in trouble, one (or two) member(s) of the group can stay with them whilst the other one or two can run off for help.

Illness:
If a member of a group falls ill time needs to be used efficiently to remain on schedule. If its more than 2hrs we need to find replacement or a definite reschedule date will be set and be met without exception.

Treatment

Treatment
Our group consisting of Josh Curran, Andrew Tinley, Sophie Neil, Thomas Adcock chose the track, “Not Made for This” by Anna Neale.
We chose this track due to its familiar pop structure and rock influence. We also appreciated the emotional context and relatable narrative of a typical troubled teenage girl, within a relationship. We opted for a pop themed song because of their accessibility, creating a style that can be easily translated in to a music video. We chose a female artist as within the pop genre females are more prominent and are what an audience expect from a pop song and its associated music video.
We intend our main narrative to be a teenage girl, Anna- played by Sophie Neil, who is unhappy with her relationship because her boyfriend treats her badly. As with many existing female pop videos she will feature in different outfits and situations, in our music video this will show the character to have two distinct personalities, one that is the ordinary girl who is upset and scared to act against her boyfriend and the other who is a confident alter ego who is released by her anger to solve her problems and exact revenge. We will portray this with an array of different scenes. Among others these will include:

• Establishing shot to show the conflict between Anna and her boyfriend.
• Close ups of Anna looking scared and upset
• Anna moulding a mannequin to show how she wishes she could shape the perfect boyfriend. (this shot would also establish a dark theme)
• Anna destroying her room with references to her boyfriend.
• Split screen- with both versions of Anna on either side mirroring each other but in their own distinct styles
• A bird’s eye view of Anna lying partly on a mannequin moving into different positions whilst singing.
• Split screen- one side with Anna being hit/ shouted at by her boyfriend and the other where Anna hits/ shouts at her boyfriend.
• A blank room where words from the song are written on the walls.

These will be exhibited in a non-linear order in short parts to create an authentic music video style in which the shots are kept short and have quick transitions between them.

Tenacious D-Tribute Single Cover

The cover is red which represents passion, blood and danger, which are present in the song lyrics too. The cover depicts a long road in the mountains with the addition of a cactus and the night sky. It's all drawn in pencil to depict the childishness of the band and the simplicity of the song. There is also a sticker in the top right of the cover which says "The Greatest Band In The World!" which further depicts the childishness of the band and their own sense of self importance which fits with the genre of 'Mock Rock'.

Metallica-The Memory Remains Single Cover

This cover is blue and features a folded/unfolded inkblot shape which resembles swans. In the swans, a drumkit and a drummer are visible. The name of the band is printed above the image in a big font while the title of the song is on the bottom.

Tenacious D-Tribute

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcJwz7wu8_s

The song was performed by Jack Black and Kyle Gass with the video featuring them and Dave Grohl with a cameo from Ben Stiller. It was directed and edited by Liam Lynch. The song recounts a music battle the band had with a demon and parodies “The Devil went down to Georgia”. The song claims that the song they played that night was “the best song in the world” but that they can no longer remember how it went. The song mixes spoken words with singing and has Jack Black voicing the demon as well as being the main vocalist.

The video features them recording the song in a cheap recording booth in a shopping centre and of them encountering the demon. The clips of them encountering the demon accurately follow the narrative from the lyrics and are set in a CGI created world. The clips of them with the recording booth begin before the actual song starts and features its own audio in dialogue and begins with them altering the karaoke machine to suit them. The audio also changes halfway during the song showing a shot of passers-by walking by and hearing the recording. Near the end of the song Jack and Kyle begin to record outside of the booth to the passers-by, but are shortly escorted away by police.

Mise-en-scene is used in this video to give the feel to an audience that the band are recording in a claustrophobic and cheap space which would not be suitable for a band that had momentarily created ‘the best song in the world’. This is done by having the studio labelled ‘studio’ with a star on the door, having the writing “YOU SING THE SONGS!” on it and by having a cheap disco ball inside, making the booth more associated with pop/dance and showing the booth to be patronising.

Metallica-The Memory Remains

Artist: Metallica feat. Marianne Faithful Song: The Memory Remains Director: Paul Andreson Year: 1997
Guitarist/Vocalist:James Hetfield Guitarist: Kirk Hammett Bassist: Jason Newsted Drummer: Lars Ulrich

The video was filmed at Van Nuys airport on 20 and 21 October 1997. It cost $400,000. The large spinning box cost over $100,000. The actual song is based on the film Sunset Boulevard (1950, Billy Wilder). The lyrics are about an ageing washed up Hollywood star who obsessively wants to be famous again. This is seen in the lyrics; “Heavy rings on fingers wave/ Another star denies the grave/ See the nowhere crowd/ Cry the nowhere tears of honour.” This suggests that the protagonist spends her time waving to imaginary crowds and imagining their tears of admiration.

The main events of the video are that Faithful let the band ride in the spinning box in the style of allowing them onto a fairground ride. There is then footage of the band playing in the spinning box and of them playing both together and individually in a room with a tilted floor. There are also shots of a funeral procession led by Faithful riding the spinning box. During certain parts of the song Faithful sings and plays a street organ.

There are two main locations in the video. The first is the giant box where the walls, floor and ceiling spin creating the illusion that the platform in the middle is spinning vertically. The second is a room where the floor is tilted upwards creating the illusion that the people who stand there are leaning further forward than is possible. This is symbolic of the illusion that the protagonist is trying to create for herself; a world where she is still famous and loved by all.

The costume of the band is fairly regular and styled to that of rich hollywood people. This is included with clothing items such as the sunglasses on Hetfield and Ulrich. Faithful's costume is very different though as she wears the costume of a 1950s circus performer which links back to 'Sunset Boulevard'
